Egware Museum is the first living soapstone museum dedicated to preserving Kisii soapstone craftsmanship – an endangered Kenyan cultural heritage at risk of disappearing without intentional action. We exist to protect, practice, and pass on this craft through immersive museum experiences and hands-on cultural soapstone sculpting workshops.
Unlike traditional museums, Egware is a living space where visitors actively engage with artisans, stories, and materials. Our experiences blend heritage, creativity, and learning, offering guided tours, sculpting classes, curated group experiences, and cultural partnerships. At the heart of our work is a commitment to inspiring the next generation of artisans while creating meaningful, authentic cultural experiences for locals and visitors alike.
